2. Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2nd edition.
3. Recognised Catholic edition of the Bible such as Revised Standard Version (RSV) or The New Jerusalem Bible. The Good News Bible is NOT acceptable (It is a paraphrase, not a proper translation).

This task contains TWO components:
1 The creation of a children’s storybook telling the story of one event in the Bible (Old or New Testament). (16 marks)
• Choose a story that links well with one of the units of the Sydney CEO syllabus
• As much as possible use the words of the scriptures as the text of the story. You will, of course, need
to simplify the narrative at times and occasionally use simpler vocabulary to suit the age of the child.
• Incorporate hand-drawn, computer-generated, or out-of-copyright images to match the narrative.
• Present in A5 format ONLY.
• The onus is on you to ensure that your book is unique to ensure you are not suspected of plagiarism.
2 A lesson plan, including a detailed set of teaching notes, to be used when teaching about the story you have chosen. (24 marks)
You should indicate clearly where in the K-6 syllabus your story best fits.
The lesson plan should be set out clearly, indicating the different activities to be used during the lesson, the time each will take, the discussion questions you could ask, etc.

iii. Any ethical message or messages in the story and how they apply to us today.
iv. Any links that may be made with other parts of the Bible or with the Sacraments.
v. Any message or messages about life after death, Heaven, Hell, etc.
vi. Any sources or reference materials must be correctly acknowledged.
