Assignment Case Study Brief Clearabee on its way to nationwide roll-out BIRMINGHAM-based on demand removal service business Clearabee, has opened a depot in Musselburgh, just outside Edinburgh. Clearabee, which last week won the Newcomer of the Year award at West Midlands Business Masters Awards, has hired five people in Scotland and will initially operate three rubbish removal trucks from its new base. Founded by Daniel Long and Rob Linton in September 2012, conversations with people operating individual ‘man and van’ services opened their eyes to an enormous potential nationwide market which produced what would eventually become an on-demand rubbish removal company, with a trusted team dedicated to cleaning up Britain, taking back value in our homes and businesses by getting rid of junk, trash, rubbish or clutter responsibly. In 2015, they turned over over £4.1m with a simple idea; which is making it hassle-free for customers to arrange same day refuse and recycling collection, which Clearabee delivers direct to its partner processing station. A figure they propose to increase to an estimated £7m in 2016, proving that one man’s rubbish really is another man’s treasure. Services are operated across the breadth of the UK and use only own junk removal teams, with a great, reliable and quick service giving you the peace of mind that about disposing your rubbish responsibly and ethically. Clearabee is the easiest way to take back your space! Its rubbish removal teams can remove almost all waste streams and are frequently called on to remove single bulky items, provide house clearance services and clear fly-tipped waste on behalf of local authorities and housing associations. Over 90% of the waste removed from households are either sent for reuse or taken to a licensed recycling facility, thus making the company an eco-friendly one with affordable services when compared to the cost of skip hires. Clearabee’s services have been used by more than 30,000 household, business and local authority customers since it started trading in 2013. It now employs over 100 people at 15 sites across the UK working within various departments such as the logistics team. HR, marketing, IT and Client Relationship Management units. The opening of the Scotland depot completes Clearabee’s initial UK rollout, enabling it to offer same-day or next-day rubbish removal services across all parts of mainland Britain.

Rob Linton, operations director at the firm, said: “We are delighted to open a depot in Scotland. It marks the completion of our initial UK roll out, enabling us to serve all four corners of mainland Britain and provide our largest customers with a nationwide multi-site rubbish removal service.
“Through our quick, efficient and fully compliant service, we remove tens of thousands of tonnes of junk and other waste each year, and partner with waste transfer stations that operate a zero-to-landfill policy wherever possible.” The business is on the verge of opening its first depot in Northern Ireland, with plans to expand into the Republic of Ireland where it has a number of key accounts. The next year will see it focus on acquiring new and potentially very lucrative corporate customers such as property developers and facilities management companies.
