Project idea To develop an android mobile application that will enhance security by ensuring that there is proper organization among the security guards in institutions of higher learning through proper duty allocation and communication. Problem statement It is not a secret that terror attacks and school shootings are on the rise. Why do so Many children have to die? What does it mean to use pro-active security tactics to abort the attack or minimize its structural damage? Security guards are among the first people to recognize and detect people with ill intentions and prevent them from causing mayhem in learning institutions. Using an android application to alert all the relevant security stakeholders can serve a great deal in helping the security guards to do the unthinkable when the need arises. There is also a lot of confusion among guards due to poor communication strategies, this is always a threat to internal security of these institutions. Others have a poor record keeping strategies and this reduces performance since they hardly learn from their past. Purpose of the application The mobile application to be developed will be able to: 1. The application will provide real-time chat capabilities to guards so as to communicate to each other about the state of security in their area where they are allocated and also report unusual behavior when observed. 2. Ease the work of the security supervisors of allocating duties to security guards by providing a good user interface for the supervisor to perform their functions. 3. Bring good organization of the guards by sending clear personalized information on where each guard has been assigned; and will avoid confusion among them. 4. The application will minimize on the time wastage when the guards parade to be assigned duties and be briefed. 5. Improved communication among the guards since it will provide a platform for briefing them and a platform for reporting any form of security threats. 6. The application will allow faster and easy retrieval of records relating to security guard previous duties and places assigned to. Scope This application is intended to be used in Institutions of higher learning to manage the security guards in the institutions. Since these institutions have different structures and security guards who work under different companies, the goal of the application is to integrate all guards from one institution to read from the same page. Main features of the application  Login  Registration  Duty allocation  Chat  Alerts and notification Hardware requirements Computer (desktop/laptop) with ï¶ 2GB RAM and above (Giga Byte Random Access Memory) ï¶ 1.7 GHZ (Giga Hertz) processor speed and higher ï¶ 320GB hard disk capacity and above for storing the application during development. ï¶ External Memory (External Hard disk) approximately 250 GB for backup.
