Obama’s Foreign Policy: Continuity or Change?

Question: As President Obama prepares to leave office next year, critics and even many supporters say he leaves an American foreign policy in shambles. From the “Pivot to Asia” to renewed tensions with the Russians over the Ukraine, to a complete breakdown of order across the Middle Eastern region, Obama has presided over what appears to be a massive failure to create a policy that will bring stability to a chaotic international
system. But would things have been different under Republican leadership? How much “change” (at least in the foreign policy realm) did Obama’s administration pursue with regard to our role as the “indispensable nation” and how much followed the same (imperial?) pattern that has existed since World War II?
