Observation of Group Work in the Field

to observe a group in your field agency or community, which could include a group you are a member of. Examples may include therapeutic

groups, religious group meetings, sports and hobbies clubs, community groups, and organizational / strategic planning meetings. (TIP:

This assignment will be easier if you use a group you are familiar with, but you may observe a group that is new to you.)
In addition to observing, you may choose to talk with members and leaders of the group to find out about their personal experiences of

the group process, including what works best for them and what challenges they have encountered in facilitating or participating in the

group. Preserve the confidentiality of group members by disguising identifying specific personal information.
After observing the group, write a paper at least five pages in length about your experience attending and observing the group. You

will apply course content by discussing the group dynamics (Chapter 3) and leadership skills and style observed (Chapter 4), and

incorporate a multicultural analysis (Chapter 5).
Include a literature review with at least three professional journal articles or books pertaining to the group’s purpose.
Follow APA Manual guidelines to format your paper.
