Paper instructions:
The “Persons of Interest” assignment asks you to review this week’s reading, Ch. 12 – 13, and to select an individual to investigate.  Ch. 12 & 13 discuss a number of individuals who are important to American history who would be great to investigate. Book: The Unfinished Nation: A Concise History Of The American People. Volume 1, 7th edition Alan Brinkley

Instructions:
•Use a minumum of (2) sources (your textbook + an additional source) for this assignment
?If using an ONLINE SOURCE use sites ending in .edu, .org, or .gov
?IF USING A .COM SITE: Must be from a credible source (eg. history.com, britannica.com)
?Check with me if you are unsure about your source

•Choose (1) person who is discussed in this week’s reading and write a (350) word passage that outlines the details of this individual’s involvement in  American history and their life story. If available include a picture of the individual you are covering!

•Follow standard MLA format and write your passage following academic standards.  Please proof-read your passage before submitting.

•Use our textbook and (1) outside source to complete the assignment.  Provide a citation for the outside source at the end of your passage    (example:  Kreneck, Thomas H. “HOUSTON, SAMUEL.” The Hanbook of Texas Online. Texas State Historical Association, n.d. Web. 03 Dec. 2013.)

•Provide details from our book and your outside source that highlight the contributions, controversies, and general story of the individual you chose to discuss.At the end of your passage write (1) question that you would ask this individual if you had the opportunity to do so.  Think critically about your question and provide a question that you believe is substantial in relation to the individual and this week’s reading!!

For (5) points extra credit reply to (1) classmate’s passage by providing (1) additional detail or comment about the individual they have covered.  MUST BE AT LEAST (1) PARAGRAPH IN LENGTH. List your source and be sure to explain the importance of this detail in relation to your classmate’s passage.  For example if one of your classmates discusses Sam Houston you may want to add to their discussion.  Be sure to list your source in your reply as well.
