Pharmacokinetics/ Pharmacodynamics/ Pharmacogenetics/ Pharmacoeconomics Paper
Select an ORAL medication from his/her clinical practice or from an area OR POPULATION of clinical interest for review and analysis of the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenetics and pharmacoeconomics. The student will explore and trace the route of this medication from absorption to elimination in the child, the adult, and the older adult. Compare and contrast the differences and similarities in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenetics, and pharmacoeconomics as the individual ages from infancy to childhood, adulthood, and advances to an older age. Be sure to include a description of basic pharmacokinetic concepts including bioavailability, clearance, half-life, steady state and elimination. Additionally, please select three side effects and explain why they occur. Are there contraindications to the use of the medication? Please describe the rationale for the contraindication. Please inform the patient of the cost of the medication.
