Homework for Antibiotic Teaching Plan
Directions: You are to create a teaching plan for a patient on antibiotics, no specific antibiotic but general instructions for anyone prescribed an antibiotic. The plan should include general instructions that the nurse would include for anyone prescribed an antibiotic. Each plan must include at least 2 references used and at least one reference must be a reference other than any of the textbooks required or recommended in NUR 305. The references should be cited in APA format.
In addition to the written teaching plan, you must also read and attach one article from a professional peer reviewed journal about antibiotic resistance.
Each teaching plan needs to contain the following:
Learning Objectives (Outcomes) – A learning objective is written with an action verb and needs to be both specific and measurable. You have objectives for each chapter in your textbook you may want to review if you are unsure how to write an objective. The objectives need to be for the patient.
Content – A detailed account, in outline form, of the actual content you plan to teach should be included. Priority points need to be identified. Be sure to include the most relevant information and use wording that is in layman’s terms. Points will be taken off for repeating the same information and if large amounts of minutia are included.
Teaching Activities – Include a brief description of any teaching material you will use, ie, pamphlets, pictures etc.
Evaluation – Describe how you will evaluate if your teaching was successful.
Grading for the plan will be based on the following:
Content = Objectives 10%, Content 40%, Teaching activities, and evaluation 10% each, Grammar and spelling = 10% APA format for reference citation = 5%, and 5% for the overall quality of your plan( this may be adjusted for individual effort). This project will count for a total of 30 homework points. There will be a 2 point per day deduction for late assignments. The article on antibiotic resistance will count for 10% of the grade.
