Picasso’s Guernika and Miro’s The Reaper
The term paper is thought as a research process within the wide field of information on the life and the work of the four artists discussed in this subject. Here there are some of the main types or choices of research paper:
-The analysis of a single work (some examples: Gaud?s La Pedrera, Picasso?s Guernika, Mir?s The Farmhouse, Dal?s The Metamorphosis of Narcissus, etc), including the comparison between two different works from a single artist, or the comparison between two works from different artist related to the same topic (i.e. Picasso’s Guernika and Miro’s The Reaper in the context of the Spanish Civil War, etc)

-?The transcendence and meaning of these artist in contemporary culture (i.e. Can we talk about a gaudinean architecture after Gaud??, Picasso as a legend, the influence of Mir? in American Abstract Expressionism, Dal?’s movies, etc).

The minimum extension of the paper is 3600 words, must be done type written and bound.
The paper is structured in the following sections (each of them must start in a new page):

-Methodology: a brief description both the chosen approach and the research process (i.e. if a student chose to analyze Dal?s Angelus series, he should start with the first painting he made about it, and continuing with the rest, so this would be a chronological methodology. On the other hand, if a student is focusing on Gala, the methodology would be monographic, and then he will jump through different periods of Dal?s work). In this section, the student must also summarise the followed steps through the research process, justifying the selected bibliographical sources and their theoretical value. So, after all, the methodology section explains how the paper is made. That is why you also have to include a comment on the bibliographical sources (what libraries and online sites you have visited, how difficult has been to compile the sources, which ones turned out to be more useful, etc),??This section should start by including a justification of the chosen topic
-Enunciation of the contents and exposition of the research. Students must select, arrange and contrast the information found in the bibliographical sources during the research process in order to generate a comprehensive vision of the existent academic debate on the selected topic. should be the main body of your paper, where you summarize the contents of the bibliographical sources (you can use quotes to give to your paper a more academic look). It will be also desirable to use crossed references, stressing when all the sources have a common opinion or interpretation of a given issue, or what is even more interesting, pointing out?potential differences in their reflections. Here you?have to be objective, not taking a side, because?this chapter should work as a state of the art, leaving your critical reflection?to the conclusion section (when and why do you agree with this or that author, etc)
-Conclusions: this section allows the student to construct a personal interpretation on the chosen topic.
-Bibliography: students must consult a minimum of?4 different bibliographical sources. At least two of them must be sources found in ?real? libraries. Online sources will be accepted, but only those with academic credibility: online books or magazines, published books that have been scanned or other sources with a title, author, publishing (or the reference of a university). Online encyclopedias and webpages without credited references won?t be accepted. (JSTOR is a valid source, Wikipedia is not).
