video is about 4 minutes in length).
COUNTRIES SELECTED: JAPAN AND SPAIN. PLEASE WATCH VIDEOS.
After viewing the country profile videos, select two of the
five countries and complete a country analysis for each country selected using Porters Diamond
Theory of National Advantage See below for details. You may use external research
information to complete this assignment. The length of the report is 2‐3 pages single‐spaced
and must include related images embedded into your report.

1. Factor Conditions – this is a nation’s position in factors of
production necessary to compete in a given industry.
a. List and discuss specific factors that exist in this country that would make this
country competitive? (i.e. basic resources such as natural resources, climate,
location and advanced resources such as skilled labor, infrastructure,
technological know‐how)
2. Demand Conditions – this is a nation’s nature of home demand for the industry’s
product or service.
a. List and discuss specific influences that exist in this country in the development
of industry capabilities and discuss how sophisticated and demanding customers
in this country are that result in increasing competition among existing firms.
3. Related and Supporting Industries – this is the nation’s presence or absence of supplier
industries and related industries that are internationally competitive.

Can a spillover effect take place and contribute to other industries (i.e.
technological know‐how, etc.)? Are there any successful industries in this
