Every sentence needs a corresponding citation. To prevent repetition APA allows for the writer to list a citation and then continue to write from that reference without listing the citation again. The reader is to assume that all information comes form the last citation until a new citation is listed or a new paragraph begins.
Like this:
Sentence one is here (Citation, 2017). Sentence two info is from sentence one’s citation. So is sentence three. Sentence four has info from a different source (Author, 2016). Sentence five uses sentence fours citation. Sentence six switches back to info from sentence one (Citation, 2017). Sentence seven uses information from both sources through author analysis (Author, 2016; Citation, 2017).
