PRE-COURSE INDIVIDUAL CRITICAL THINKING ASSIGNMENT (ICTA)

INSTRUCTIONS

The specific format of the research paper is not dictated, however, the paper should be between 3 and 4 double-spaced pages, plus a reference page (not included in the 3 to 4 page count) typed in a 12-pitch font. Please pay particular attention to grammar and punctuation.

All papers must reflect appropriate references for cited works. The paper should represent a best effort of a contracting professional seeking Level II Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification. In addition, the power point slides will be utilized to give a 10 minutes briefing. I will receive a grade for the quality of the PowerPoint presentation. You should research your topic and present the material to the class as a knowledgeable contracting professional.

You will be provided questions to direct the research and guide the paper outline, however, do not limit the paper to the ideas provided. Adequate research may lead you to several informational resources of which you should take advantage.

Topic: Options in Service Contracts

ASSIGNMENT

Within the context of your paper and your presentation you should (at a minimum) answer the following:

1. When is it appropriate to exercise an option?

2. If the requirements change, how does that affect the Government’s right to exercise the Option?

3. Can the Government exercise an option and then terminate parts no longer need?

Note: You are not limited to discussing only the above questions.
