EE1600, Programming for
Digital media
Version 1.0
Workshop Two
September 2012
Aims
Practice problem solving techniques
Objectives
Develop a solution to problems using the problem solving concepts
introduced in the lecture.
Produce an algorithmic description for the solution of a problem.
Problem
1
You wish to go and see the scul
pture of David by
Michelangelo
, during
a
one
week holiday in Florence. Write an algorithm for arranging the holiday
including a visit to see the
sculpture
.
Problem
2
A plan of a room is shown which is 4.38m long, 3.62m
wide and 2.75m tall.
It has a window on one wall 2.10m long and 1.80m tall.
There is a door in one corner which is 2.10m high and
0.90m wide.
The chimney which is symmetrically placed on the wall is 1.40m long and
0.30 m deep.
Given that a standard roll
of wall paper is 0.50m wide and 10m long.
Describe an algorithm to calculate the total number of lengths of wall paper
that are needed to paper the walls.
