Procurement Management

You must have access to the following text book to complete this assessment:
Sollish, F. & Semanik, J., 2012, The procurement and supply manager’s desk reference, 2ed., John Wiley & Sons, Hoboken, NJ.
This is a research essay designed to demonstrate how well we have understood the learning material from the text book quoted above from the first 6 weeks of study and also show evidence on being able to conduct wider research into the matters surrounding soliciting, and evaluating (EOIs) from suppliers.
Please note I have been assigned topic 1B which is to:
Discuss the various models and frameworks used to evaluate the EOIs that are received by an organisation after they have gone out to the market.
The layout of the research essay should be in the format of Introduction, Body, Conclusion & List of references.
The first 6 weeks of subjects discussed in the text book (mentioned above) as stated below for your review and alignment in the research report:
1. The strategic role of procurement: Best practices in Procurement (Sollish & Semanick, pp. 1-23)
2. Sourcing Management (Sollish & Semanick, pp. 25-58)
3. Solicitations of Bids and Proposals (Sollish & Semanick, pp. 59-68)
4. Supplier selection criteria (Sollish & Semanick, pp. 69-88)
5. The fine print: negotiations, contracts and legal aspects of procurement (Sollish & Semanick, pp. 89-108 & pp. 155-172),
6. Risk Management (Sollish & Semanick, pp. x125-136)
You should be referencing the resources you have been provided in the weekly readings (as previously mentioned) as a minimum. This is a research essay, so it is expected to conduct a wider research into the topic 1B and provided references in Harvard format.
Assessment criteria is based on: Academic presentation, Understanding of key concepts related to the topic, Scholarship – evidence of further research, critical analysis of sources, Adherence to assessment task – extent to which the student has critically addressed the pertinent issues in topic 1B.
Some other key points to take note on are:
– You are free to handle the topics in the order you want – Be aware of the difficulty to follow information that is spread all over the paper – Keep theory on a topic together – This essay is about your theoretical understanding . Use research to be more elaborate about a topic. Use examples where necessary and discuss the different approaches and the pro’s and con’s – If you quote theory: describe why you quote this theory and how it applies to your topic. Preferable rephrase theory in your own wording – Be aware of the rules on plagiarism
