In relation to recovery for psychiatric damage, Lord Oliver has commented that:

“I cannot, for my part, regard the present state of the law as either entirely satisfactory or as logically defensible”

Clarity and precision of expression. ? Use of appropriate and consistent conventions for quoting from other people?s work. ? Clarity of presentation (layout, including use of paragraphs and tables, for example). ? Clarity of writing including grammar, punctuation, spelling and sentence construction. This is important as a degree classification sends out a message to employers about what they can expect by way of standard of written work. We appreciate that a different level and type of pressure applies for the three hours when you must use your own hand-writing to convey complex arguments and data without reference to any texts. In using the above criteria when marking exam scripts we take these pressures into account, but markers can only assess what they can read and there should be an indication of the texts you have been using to construct your argument and its supporting evidence.
