Public Policy

To what extent is public policymaking constrained or shaped by public opinion in the

U.S.? Are policymaking institutions responsive to public preferences and concerns? In
answering these questions, assess both the theoretical arguments for and against
responsiveness as well as the empirical evidence bearing on the question.
