Research Paper
The research paper should be a minimum of six double-spaced typed pages (not including bibliography) and consist of a topic selected by the student relating to African or Oceanic art. You must demonstrate knowledge of the particular work of art, the culture, artist (if known), style, period, purpose and content of the work of art selected. The paper should be a critical analysis of the work, but an informational paper is also acceptable. A bibliography of a minimum of three sources must be included. I suggest that when the paper is completed you set it aside for a day and reread the paper for any structural or spelling errors.
Citing Sources:
Follow the Citing Sources instructions of the MLA guidelines. Remember, using the words or ideas of others in your writing without identifying the source is plagiarism (academic theft).
Bibliography:
If you use information from a source or sources, a compilation of those sources, known as a bibliography, is a necessary component of your paper and is listed on a separate page.
