Engineer by Samuel C. Florman. In your essay address the following topics:
• What was the concept / general idea of the essay?
• What were the main points of the essay?
• What was your reaction to the essay? What did you learn from this essay? Do you think
that it is important for an engineer to be educated in both science and humanities?
• How does this essay relate to your experience? Why did you choose to pursue a career in
engineering? Are you satisfied with your choice? What would you have liked to learn in
college that you feel you did not?
Your grade will be based the composition of the essay (i.e., your mastery of written English) as
well as the content (i.e., how well you address the above topics).
