Referee Report

write a referee report. You are asked by the editor of Explorations in Economic History to referee a paper. Your “referee report” should be in two parts. Part one is a business letter address to the editor (me), “Dear Professor Margo, Thank you for asking me to referee … “. Your letter should contain a specific recommendation to the editor: reject the paper, revise and resubmit, or accept with conditions, or accept as-is. The second part should be your report. A good referee report begins by summarizing the main conclusions of the paper, followed by your summary recommendation (and why), following by specific comments/questions. The business letter should be no more than one single spaced page.
