Zack notes “to operate efficiently in today’s economy, it is necessary to become a knowledge-based organization.” He concludes his article by noting that even though its not easy to accomplish “any company – even one that makes cement – can find a significant and sustainable competitive advantage in becoming a real knowledge-based organization.”
In the context of the four categories that Zack has identified (process, place, purpose, and perspective), select a company you are familiar with (or do a little research) and discuss why (what facts, activities, etc.) lead you to believe they are a knowledge-based company.
