In the past, all complains were processed through paper which used up a lot of room and wasted more paper because of all the copies we had to have on file, not being environmentally conscience. When I got my internship, one of my tasks was to go through all their complaint files that we had and scan them into the BBB database because by doing this less paper would be used and everything would be stored online. Currently, most complains come in via online complains because of their website. And when we sent complaints out to businesses we try to reach out to them and get their e-mail. If they wish not to provide e-mail then letters are sent out. We begin working at 8:30 am but the lights remain off and use the natural lights from our windows until higher management arrives around 9:30 am to 10:00 am. This is a “hot topic” because global warming is very real and it is affecting our world. People are trying to make a positive impact to reduce the greenhouse gasses by making a simple transition that everyone can apply to their everyday workplace habits, and it takes one person to make a difference. Going green is more than just saving paper and polluting less, it’s about making a “conscience effort to reduce environmental impact at work” as stated in the YouTube video “Green Workplace Practices”.

Good Afternoon Class and Professor,
My company is all about going green. They make sure to place recycling bins all around the office. Also, they run a program for kids to work during the summer. And what they do is they walk around cleaning up the city of Paterson. They walk throughout different neighborhoods and pick up trash that they find. Also, they paint over graffiti that makes the neighborhood look trashy. Another thing they do is they also rebuild parks. They take down the trees that are dying or replenish the trees that are in the park. By going green they help the economy grow. They are socially responsible and do their part to make sure they keep the community clean and prosperous.

“Green” and “sustainable” have become two of the most widely used words in the English language. But what do they mean in terms of your business?
Going green means reducing the overall environmental impact of your business. That holistic approach includes compliance issues that protect both you and the environment. When you combine those initiatives with energy efficiency measures that conserve the earth’s resources, you make your business more efficient, and reduce costs. Green Your Business, (n.d.) After reading some of the articles and watching the videos in the Lectures and Required Resources links in the Course Material folder, answer the following questions:
What is your Internship company doing regarding “Going Green”?
If your answer is nothing, what would you recommend your company should do to help sustain the eco system?

Why is this such a hot topic?
