Romantic, Victorian, Modern Period

Several authors we have read in the Romantic, Victorian, and Modern periods deal with the concept of power in their writing. In the Romantic period, human power over Nature, and Nature’s power over humanity, figure largely in the poems of Wordsworth, Shelley, and Keats. In the Victorian era, you read poems in which power is explored through human interaction, especially sex and gender. Male power over women is a strong theme in the poetry of Robert Browning, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and Christina Rossetti. Choose TWO poems from different writers out of the six writers mentioned above, and trace the ways in which these poets examine the issue of power, either natural and/or human.
