In America there are many laws that have been passed and unfortunately many have not. The gay rights movement has been on the rise for about a decade and keeps growing day by day. I believe that every person deserves the right to get married and fall in love, and not be judged because they are of the same sex. I would like to approach this ethical problem in a utilitarian’s perspective; which tells that the welfare of each person is equally morally valuable; whether rich or poor, white or black, female or male, religious or not everyone deserves an equal right to be able to get married if they desire too. A utilitarian concept is to create the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest amount of people, so if that is the case then it is morally right for same sex marriage because everyone deserves to be treated equally and you are creating happiness for a large group of people in today’s society. My argument is that everyone should be treated equally and not based on being of the same sex, and if a male and female can be married legally then why is it that people of the same sex are not able too then if all they want is to be happy and enjoy being legally married.
