Signature Assignment
Integrative Therapy Video
(CLOs 1-6)
Week 7
250 points
The Integrative Therapy Video is a scholarly inquiry into assembling essential elements of a new DNP
graduate to initiate integrated psychotherapy practice optimally.
The Integrative Therapy Video will be the Signature Assignment in the School of Nursing and
Health Professions evaluation system. A description of the assignment and its grading rubric are
provided. This assignment is the Signature Assignment and is due week 7 of the course. The
Integrative Therapy Video provides a student with an opportunity to operationalize and
synthesize a blending of therapeutic approaches (this is NOT to include complementary alternative
modalities, yoga, Medication management, EMDR, or dream work) with a single psychotherapy
patient. The approach may be designed over several encounters, using three differing approaches,
each augmenting the patient to enhance patient driven outcomes symbiotically.
The following will be expected of each student: Identify 3 therapies that can be used in blended and
symbiotic ways to help patients develop insight and solutions to their problems in the context of individual
psychotherapy. Provide definitions for key words. Briefly and succinctly, define each psychotherapeutic
approach and why it is appropriate to the case. Demonstrate how each of the 3 modalities can be used in
one patient, and why you would use the three rather than one or two. Provide a discussion of the expected
overall encounter with the sample patient including potential barriers/issues that you might anticipate when
working with the clients. Provide an example of how these three modalities can benefit a person with a
different culture and/or a diverse background. Provide a summary of conclusions favorable to the synthesis
of 3 complementary integrative therapies. The video should be no longer than 20 minutes, submitted in a
timely manner and contain 4 separate sections
Basic Video requirements
 Each student will submit into Black Board, a video of themselves performing psychotherapy during
the seventh week of 642
 You will not be able to proceed with your clinical hours until you have submitted and passed this
assignment
 You will need to obtain an 80% in this assignment to pass. Please see rubric.
 You may use anyone as your patient during the filming of the video as long as you have their
consent.
 You will not need a “patient” for the first section but the remaining three sections will require a
“patient” and it must be the same “patient” for all three sections.
 The video must NOT be longer than 20 minutes and needs to be done with the same “patient”
 You do NOT need to show the “patient” in front of the camera when recording. The camera should
be focused on you but we should be able to hear the other person and know that they are there.
 Please ensure high quality of the video so the reviewer can see AND hear what you are saying
 Please keep your patient’s identity out of the line of vision.
Video Details
 Segment One – Give a short synopsis of the case and why the patient has come to see you. The
patient is not present for this segment. Provide significant patient history to allow the viewer to
understand the case. Identify 3 therapies that can be used in blended and symbiotic ways to help
patients develop insight and solutions to their problems in the context of individual psychotherapy.
Provide definitions for key words. Briefly and succinctly, define each psychotherapeutic approach
and why it is appropriate to the case based on evidence found in literature. Discuss how each of the
3 modalities can be used in one patient, and why you would use the three rather than one or two.
Discuss the order which you would use these therapies in and why you have chosen this order.
Provide a discussion of the expected overall encounter with the sample patient. Provide an example
of how this theories can be used to support cultural and diversity in your patient or possible
adaptations that may be required. Provide a summary of conclusions favorable to the synthesis of 3
complementary integrative therapies. Explain what you are going to do in the next three segments.
 Segment Two – A therapy appointment with your “patient” in which you demonstrate the use of
the first of your chosen modalities. This does not have to be an example of a first appointment
with a patient. It can be an appointment that indicates you already have a relationship with the
patient.
 Segment Three – A therapy appointment with your “patient” in which you demonstrate the use of
the second of your chosen modalities. This does not have to be the “next” appointment after the last
one, it can be an appointment that happens later in your care of this patient but it must occur after
the last segment.
 Segment Four – A therapy appointment with your “patient” in which you demonstrate the use of
the third of your chosen modalities. This does not have to be the “next” appointment after the last
one, it can be an appointment that happens later in your care of this patient but it must occur after
the last segment. It does not need to show your final appointment with the patient. It can show that
you will be continuing to see the patient or it can be your final appointment.
