Research proposal week 2 – Introduction and background
Instructions

For this section read and use Organizing your social science research paper sections 4 -Introduction (including the drop down menu section) and Writing a research

proposal.
Topic:
Socioeconomic status
Questions:
1. What has the greatest impact on the development of socioeconomic status?
2. Is it possible for someone to change their socioeconomic status? Does changing that status also affect the bias other people may have about them?
3. What social class is more afflicted by socioeconomic status?
4. Does socioeconomic status change as a person gets older?
5. Does education impact socioeconomic status?

You will submit and introduction and background section this week.
You will choose the question that you have decided is best suited for the research you are going to do and use it to write these two sections of your proposal.
An introduction section is very short generally only a few sentences. a background section is a 1 to 2 paragraph expansion of your introduction. In your final paper

you will be using citations from your literature review but for now just draw on what you know about the topic. As we add other pieces of the paper in future weeks you

can come back and revise this part so that it fits and flows with the other parts.
