Social work family assessments

A family of three, made up of a single mother, her 14-year-old son, and her 7-year-old daughter have contacted a licensed clinical social worker for immediate help. They have recently experienced the unexpected and violent death of the husband and father of the family during a neighborhood block party. They are emotionally devastated, and actively grieving. The children have not returned to their schools since the death of their father, which was two weeks ago. And their mother has not yet returned to work. The funeral for their family member was several days ago.

In a 2-3 page paper, prepared in the latest APA format, please answer the questions below about this case study, using concepts, and theories.Review the range of clinical methods used in the assessment with families. Compare and contrast the social work assessment process used with families with that used with individual clients.

1. Describe how the social worker could use evidence-based assessment with the mother of this family.

2. Compare and contrast how the social worker could use different evidence-based assessments with the two children of the family.

3. The mother has expressed an interest in family (group) therapy to help them through their grief. Describe the treatment plan that the social worker could propose to her, after the initial assessments are completed.

In all three of these questions, please demonstrate how the age of each family member would be carefully considered in both their assessment and the treatment strategies.
