Instructions: For this project, you will be investigating the validity of song lyrics. For the first part of your paper, you will be required to write a comprehensive APA style literature review that either substantiates or refutes the lyrics or any line(s) from a song (i.e. “girls are prettier at closing time.”)
From your chosen lyrics, you must first generate a research hypothesis. For example, from the line above (“girls are prettier at closing time”), you might be interested in examining the question about whether alcohol consumption significantly affects perceptions of attractiveness. Therefore, you will investigate your hypothesis by reviewing the current research on this issue and writing a comprehensive literature review summarizing the current research on your topic.
While a summary of what you have read is contained within the literature review, it goes well beyond merely summarizing professional literature. It (1) focuses on a specific topic of interest to you, (2) includes a critical analysis of the relationship among different works, and (3) relates this research to your interests, research questions and work.
The literature review should contain a minimum of 6-8 academic sources and should be roughly 8-10 pages in length, including an APA title page, an abstract and a reference page.
