This is a Masters of Special Education – Masters Project course. Please read and review the uploaded word document “written project paper template” for more detailed instructions, paper requirements, and information to complete the first 2 parts (1. Introduction; Statement of the Problem. 2. Literature Review; Introduction to the literature review, literature review chart of findings, and Synthesis of Literature Findings That Inform the Research) of this Masters Project assignment.

This master’s project assignment is a “capstone” program experience requiring the student to apply a scholarly approach to addressing a problem of practice related to high-incidence disabilities, educational programs serving students with high-incidence disabilities and their families, or special education processes.

What I have discussed for my Masters Project:

– Problem – Identifying ways to involve parents so that they feel they and have something to contribute and provide resources to meet their needs (including outside of school). Finding local, regional, and national resources and matching them to parent needs.

– Research – Conceptual framework for thinking about family needs and family contributions, Resources (we discussed respite, peer buddies, socialization (sports, clubs, rollerskating, local movie nights for children with significant disabilities, engagement with church, other community interests).

– Product – Resource guide.

– Field-test – Try it out with a family.

– Evaluation – interview/matching process or questionnaire and resource guide by others.

I will also upload some resources of research paper examples to help you get a better idea of what I posted above, as well as four reading chapters to get you started on the right research.

Expected Outcomes:

– Identify a problem of practice in the field of high-incidence disabilities.

– Use the literature in the field to understand the identified problem of practice.

– Develop a review of the literature in a specified area.
