The Individual Assignment

This requires each student to submit a written document using full academic style of 2000 words(without references). The set topic is as follows;

“Discuss the value of sports sponsorship within a named sport or club to both parties in the deal.”

The essay should consider two themes;

1) sports as product and

2) sports as medium.

The first theme focuses on the applications of marketing theories and principles to promote sports and sport related products. It puts the students in the shoes of a marketing manager of a sports related business.

The second theme, considers sports as one of the vehicles to promote a product or service. It covers how non-sport related businesses can benefit from utilising sports as a part of their marketing communication programme.

To cover these themes the essay should looks at four unique aspects of sports marketing including strategic management, understanding the consumer, planning the marketing mix, and implementing and controlling the strategic sports marketing process. Importantly it looks at the cultural, economic and individual issues involved in these areas linking marketing theory and concepts to a sports context.
