For this assignment you will visit a history museum or historic site and answer questions about your visit.
1. A list of suggested sites is below. If you chose to visit a site that is not on this list, you must receive permission from the instructor.
2. To receive full credit for your paper you will need to attach to your paper a photo of you at the site.Ê If this will be a problem for you, come talk to me before you visit the site.
3. Write a paper that answers the following questions. The paper should be approx. two pages long (550-750 words) double-spaced.
? What was the site you visited? When did you go and who went with you? Briefly describe the site.
? How do the events at this site connect to larger historical events? Give examples of how the events discussed here are interpreted as being part of a larger historic context. In other words, what is the historical significance of this site?
? Does this site do a good job of displaying diverse voices in history? In other words, are the experiences of people of different races, classes, religions, ethnicities, or sexual orientations documented? Are the different experiences of women and men explored? Are other kinds of diversity included?
? How accessible is this site to people with disabilities? Are people with mobility impairments fully able to access the site? What about blind or deaf people? Are there other issues that disabled people would face if they visited here?
? Description of one aspect of your visit you found most interesting. This can be an exhibit, an object, a tour guide, audience reaction to an exhibit, etc.
