Topic: The objective of this paper is to explore concepts of happiness and articulate your own concept. The process involves reviewing philosophical and religious perspectives. In particular students will utilize “The Tao Te Ching,” “Crito,” and “Sermon at Benares” . After analyzing the positions taken within these readings, your task will be to synthesis the ideas expressed to your own.

Structure: begin with an introduction that outlines the purpose and topics of your essay. The First body paragraph will define your concept of happiness. The second body paragraph will address the various concepts of happiness that you found most relevant from the lecture notes. Define and explain those concepts of the good life. The third body paragraph will be dedicated to the “Tao Te Ching” and your analysis of its ideas concerning the good life. The fourth body paragraph will assess the ideas concerning happiness found in the reading in “Crito.” Your fifth body paragraph will address the concept of happiness found in the “Sermon at Benares.” Last, your sixth body paragraph will synthesize your concept of happiness with the ideas expressed in the above-mentioned sources. End with a summative conclusion.

References: Students will support their explanations with quotes from five references. It is critical that you use sources to support and build your argumentation upon. For this paper, I am requiring the following specified sources to be used.
