Modify to suit your question focus.
THEN outline what the reader can expect from your SLR
What is the purpose or objective/s of the SLR? What did
you want to find out? What information/evidence will you be providing to the reader and how did you establish it?
Search Strategy and selection criteria 300 words Describe how you went about finding your information
Which databases were used to locate your articles?
Which subject headings and key words were used?
What limitations did you apply to refine your search?
How many articles were initially found?
How did you (what was the process/decision) reduce the
number of articles found to the number used? Eg read titles (how many), read abstracts (how many), read full text (how many), did not meet your question criteria (how many) etc
Provide a brief overview of the study designs of the final selected articles used in the SLR:
Were the studies, quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods or a mixture of all (list)
Identify the research design – cohort studies, Randomised Control study, ethnography
What method were used for data collection- questionnaire, interviews, focus groups, observation

Main results
Data synthesis and analysis
800 words Use headings and sub-headings in this section.
Provide a synthesis of the results so that you answer the
original question
Start with a paragraph that describes the issue and or the
intervention/s reviewed. Indicate to the reader which of the methods below is to be used in your analysis of the evidence found.
The discussion should follow either of the following 3 strategies:
1 – From the most rigorous evidence to least rigorous evidence (hierarchy of evidence)
2 – Thematic analysis (according to themes)
 Or
3 – PICO (for an evaluation of intervention/s)
Population: the population group that was the focus of your
investigation
 Intervention/s: describe the intervention/s
Comparison (of interventions or to no intervention)
Outcome: was an outcome of effectiveness/benefits
established based on the literature reviewed
Conclusion and Implications for practice
250 words Summarise the main results (this will lead to the conclusion and implications). You would include any limitations of evidence here.
 What do the results mean?
Have you answered your question confidently? Or, are the
results inconclusive?
Consider the implications / priorities for practice. This is
not a personal reflection on your practice but how the outcome of your results would impact health practice in general. Eg: does the information support the intervention and therefore worthwhile to use in future practice; or is more evidence required to substantiate the benefits of use.
References Minimum 12-15 quality references.
 Harvard or APA referencing methods.
