Elements of an Annotated Bibliography
1.Heading in MLA format.
2.Title used: Annotated Bibliography.
3.Page numbers should be on the page if you have more than one page.
4.Double line spacing throughout.
5.Complete Works Cited entry information in MLA format (make sure to put it in alphabetical order).
6.A brief paragraph (3-5 sentences) describing why you think the source may be helpful for your paper. (i.e. When you briefly look over it, what stands out to you that you think might be helpful?)

DO NOT copy/paste an abstract from a source. This is not appropriate for many reasons but mainly because doing so means 1) You are cheating/plagiarizing by using someone else’s words for your work and 2) you are not fulfilling the purpose of the assignment, which is to note how a source could be helpful for your research.

DO think outside the box when considering sources for your topic (i.e. journal articles, videos, interviews, etc.)

Assignment Requirements:

You must have 10 entries from trusted scholarly sources. The sources can be from multiple-modalities (i.e. a traditional print book, an online scholarly journal article, a published image, videos, interviews, etc.). Use MLA format to document your sources. Chapter 18 from Writing Matters covers MLA documentation style.

Annotated entries will include the information required for a works cited entry AND a brief description of the text that will provide the following information:
•Main idea of article and purpose
•Writing style (vocabulary, sentence structure, etc.)
•Audience (Who was the article written for?)
•Special features of article (images, charts, graphs, etc.)
•Usefulness for further research (Is this an article you could potentially use for your writing?)
