Teen risky behavior

Teen risky behavior

What is Teen risky behavior and how can we help teens curb their risky behaviors? The National Institutes of Health have identified that “risky sexual behavior is occurring at earlier ages, at higher rates in minority youths, and with serious potential consequences such as pregnancy and STD’s ” (2002).

The text has an “Applied view” that completed a survey on top achieving high school students with results that show “teen concerns for pregnancy, suicide ideation and drug problems” (Dacey, 2006, P. 339).

What is missing in Middle Childhood for teens growing up in this country? What do you feel are great influences effecting “risky behaviors”? Resilient teens may “step over” theses influences…what about those who may not be so resilient?
