• Select 4-6 papers based on empirical research most directly related to your area of interest,
• Provide a results table for those 4-6 papers showing: study design, significant characteristics, strengths and limitations, main findings, (etc.) as appropriate,
• Utilise appropriate critical appraisal tools (e.g. CASP) providing a rationale as to why those particular tools were chosen,
• Synthesise an appraisal of quality, research methodology, data collection methods (this may or may not include ethical issues, bias, generalisability etc.), with a critical commentary of content / themes.

This task reflects the process for evidence-based practice step 4 and 5 – Apply and Assess
• Summarise your findings and explain how your findings do or do not meet the requirements of the original aim provided in task 1,
• Consider how your findings might impact on practice, this may or may not include (amongst other things): changes that may be required, practitioner perceptions, ethical considerations, clinical governance issues, patient preferences, health system constraints, policy and guidelines and barriers to implementation.
