Project description

3 any cultural, economic, or political aspects that may link the choice of materials and structural form to the locality

6 your own personal observations of real construction (either in-progress or completed) and its behaviour
Structural forms to look out for include different cross-sections, elevations, plan forms, local strengthening details, use of mutual support (or absence of it) between adjacent members, details of graduation from strong to weak materials, and movement joints. Also relevant to the discussion could be buildability, and the relationship of structural form to specific site conditions (design of temporary works, soft soil, hard soil, ingress of ground water, poor drainage, congested site).
Illustrations would be best served by your photographs of site observations. If that is not possible then hand sketches will do.
