The new second generation of Vietnamese – US born.

The new second generation of Vietnamese – US born.

Community Study: Are there sub-groups or sub-cultures within your community? How do these sub-groups fit into the structure of the larger community? Do sub-group members share any

specific traits or characteristics? Do they have separate rules of behavior or rituals apart from the overall community? Are there certain physical spaces where sub-groups gather?

Summary:
There are a group of young generation who born here – in U.S and don’t want to speak Vietnamese or learn about Vietnamese’s history. They have freedom in their lifestyle and making decision,

which is really different from original Vietnamese who must follow the rule and listen to the older in the family. The older in family have to accept it since that is how American live – free and

independent. However, their family tie is still strong, they keep in touch and take care for parents. This young generation tends to have better English and better ability to adapt with American

people when they go to school.
