Thompsons PCS model

Today’s lecture was about Forms of discrimination and social marginalisation, to understand the process of social marginalisation and how discrimination takes place within society. Before the session we all had a ‘topic’ we needed to research and in the lecture got into or ‘topic’ groups to discuss what we found out and decide between us the definition of our topic and three learning points and what it has to do with social work.
We then moved on and talked about different forms of discrimination, and got told about Thompson’s PCS model, which I have never come across.
We then discussed what social/ cultural capital and Social Marginalisation, about how it varies across the globe and how it can come about for social work students. The lecturer then talked about social Inclusion and said aboutthe Family Group Conferencing Model, which originated in New Zealand and is now used across Britain.
