3. Why have victim-centred strategies promoting social healing become so prominent in post-conflict societies? Assess how beneficial these strategies have been for

individual victims and communities in achieving justice and reconciliation.
4. Why have Western states become so concerned about the security threat from international terrorism? Discuss by looking at the relationship between state legitimacy,

order and the mediated spectacle of abject violence.
5. Spatial strategies to manage violence – e.g. peace walls, gated communities, urban tourniquets – usually invoke security to justify the need for protection from the
