By the mid-20oos, the college was having financial issues and failing to_

meet “financial responsibility standards” of the United States Department of Education, a measure of economic viability. In
2009, Daniel Webster College received a score of just 0.5 out of 3 on that scale, with 1.5 considered passing.[5] Faced with
the prospect of losing educational accreditation and federal fiinding, both of which would have forced the school to close,[6]
[71 it was acquired by ITT Educational Services, Inc., the parent company of the ITT Technical Institutesm in June 2009,51 [9]
and subsequently became a for-profit institution.”°] A May 2009 article in the Nashua Telegraph cited unnamed college
officials stating “there were uncertainties about whether there would be the resources necessary to keep the flight program
going.”[6] In March 2010 interim President Nadine Dowling announced ITT Educational Services‘ decision to phase out the
program and to stop accepting new flight students,“ ‘1 while allowing- students currently enrolled in the program to complete
their education. As of May 2013, there were no longer any flight students enrolleim] In February 2014, the US. Consumer
Financial Protection Bureau filed a lawsuit against ITT Educational Services, alleging predatory student lending practices
and misleading students about future job prospects.“3]

Following the sudden suspension of the flight prograni, student enrollment was reduced significantly. Former enrollment
numbers of 1,200 dropped to the current rate of approximately 600 undergraduate students.[”] Future plans for the school
include expanding the engineering program, developing other campuses to include the Daniel Webster College brand, and
offering online degrees to remote students.“5]
