Writing Evaluation/Feedback (25 pts.)
Read through the following excerpts from a cover letter. In a Word document, write a brief

Dear Human Resource Department
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is W.C. and lam writing to express my great interest in
the position of Clinical Psychologist Assistant at the Veterans Health Administration for the Summer of
2014, as posted on USAJOBS.com. I respectfully submit my letter for consideration, so please ponder
this letter as my formal application for the position.
Currently, I am a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and majoring in Psychology. l
have studied all branches of Psychology and completed all the coursework in Psychology. Especially, l
was interested in studying Clinical Psychology. By taking Clinical Psychology, l have learned the
prevention, assessment, and treatment of mental illness and abnormal behavior problems. Moreover, I
also have studied how to treat psychopathology and individual and group problems to ameliorate social
behaviors, interpersonal skills, adaptation, satisfaction, and personal effectiveness. As l have completed
the course sequence of lllinois’ Psychology major, I will bring that expertise and knowledge to the
Veterans Health Administration as a clinical psychologist in the Summer of 2014.
l have a lot of experience of working with people who have been diagnosed with mental illness or
abnormal behavior such as schizophrenia. During summer of 2012 and 2013, i worked in Korea
Correctional Service as a psychology assistant to help and support people who have mental illness or
abnormal behavior. By doing that it was possible for them to get back into society and enjoy their social
life with other people. Additionally, during summer of 2013, i also worked in Green Senior Village, which
is a nursing home for physically and mentally ill senior citizens. I volunteered to work as an assistant to
assess senior citizen’smental illness and abnormal behaviors by running experiments and using
assessment technique. Therefore, I am very skilled and comfortable interacting with people especially,
those who have a physical or mental disability.
The combination of my successful academic coursework and experience in a related field has prepared
me to be a faithful, passionate, and diligent person as an employee and i believe that my
industriousness and steady hard working attitude will have positive influence in working at the Veterans
Health Administration.
