Order Description
The purpose of this assignment is to assess your leadership potential and focus/identify your areas of development to be a more effective leader for the future. (PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHOICE ONE OF THE 15 ECONOMIC LEADERS – SEE ATTACHED)
Task-1
? To understand the differences of leaders from others you examine different leaders from all around the world. Choose one of the leaders from the list (given by tutor) and prepare a report covering his/her leadership style, strengths and areas of development, milestones and failures in his/her life. Make your analysis in detail with comparisons to other leaders. (A.C. 1-1, 1-2, 1-3)
? Provide a critical analysis for the leadership role, management role and the common missions both had in between, Support your answer with example from your personal life. (A.C. 1-1, 1-2, 1-3)
Task-2
? What are the major differences between manager without leadership skills and leader without managerial skills? The answer of this question should be based on your personal research referenced from trustful journal (A.C. 2-1,2-2,2-3)
? Give an example from your selection about the personal characteristic for someone that you consider as a high emotional intelligence person. Put the EI in the context of Leadership (A.C. 2-1,2-2,2-3)
Task-3
? Evaluate the communication skills of your direct supervisor based on the points presented in the slides, keep the name of the company, person and position unknown (A.C. 3-1,3-2)

? Use appropriate methods to review your current leadership requirements. Evaluate your attitudes toward different issues, e.g.; diversity, world threats, ethics, corporate social responsibility, restructuring, integrity leadership, diverse teams, changes in reporting and control, new technology. (A.C. 3-1,3-2,3-3)
Task-4
? Select a case study of a successful conflict management resolution and describe the characteristic of the leader that helped in solving the conflict, in addition to that, how’s the conflict management skills of this leader fit the 21st century challenges of leadership (A.C.4-1, 4-2,4-3)

Assessment

Learners can use their own workplaces as a base for much of the assessment for this unit. However, if they are not a part of a suitable organisation, other strategies may have to be used, for example a work placement, a detailed investigation of an organisation or the use of suitable case study material.

For AC1, learners need to explain the link between strategic management and leadership. Learners need to use examples to explain the links between functions, with particular emphasis on meeting strategic objectives.

For AC2, learners can draw on their own practices as managers/leaders, using examples from their organisations or a suitable case study to analyse the impact of different management and leadership styles on strategic decisions. Learners should be able to reflect his understanding for the emotional intelligence and how it will affect the future of the employee in any organization.

For AC3, learners should be able to proof his understanding of the importance of communication in leadership and management, be able to find the gaps in the communication styles for the people they are ahead of him. In addition to that, learners should be able to reflect on different leadership terminology.

For AC4, the case study should be taken from a case study the learner will select it from the existing body of knowledge. Learner should be able to explain how the leadership traits and style played a major role in finding solution for the conflicts. Leaner should include the challenges that leaders face it in the 21st century like the technology challenges, the international conflicts, the financial crises ….
Guidelines for the Assignment:
? Use standard Arial font size 11.
? Use 1.5 line spacing.
? Have a 2.5 centimetre margin on the left hand side of the page and a 2 centimetre margin on the right hand side.
? Include page numbers.
? Headings: use 16 point Arial Bold for first level headings, and 14 point Arial Bold for second level headings. If a third level heading is required, use 12 point Arial Bold.
? Attach a completed Statement and Confirmation of Own Work to the front of the paper copy of your assignment.
? The first page of your assignment should be a title page, which should also state your name, Edexcel BTEC ID number and the name of the Centre where you are studying.
? Include a table of contents.
? Start each task on a new page and include the question at the top of the page.
? Ensure any diagrams, screen shots, PowerPoint slides, etc fit correctly on the page and are referenced, for example, Fig. 1, Fig. 2, etc.
? Check spelling, grammar and punctuation.
? You should also ensure that you proof read your document, because the above checks do not always pick up every mistake.
? Use accurate Harvard referencing and include a bibliography.
? Ensure you are aware of the word limit for the assignment (3000-3500 word limit) and any regulations that apply if you exceed the word limit.
? Include the total word count at the end of the assignment.
? Learner has the freedom to select the words counts for each task as he’s seeing it suitable from perspective of achieving the learning outcomes.
