Urbanization and Environmental Health
Many of the environmental problems we face today are the result of legacy pollution (pollution from a long time ago) often as a result of industrialization and urbanization. Even though the pollution occurred in the past, it still impacts human and environmental health today. As people who were able to leave inner cities migrated to the suburbs, people of color and lower socioeconomic status often stayed in inner cities creating issue of environmental justice. Are there any environmental justice issues where you live? What is environmental justice? What are the greatest concerns for you/your family in terms of exposure to environmental pollutants?
