Verbal Abuse Incident Statement Statement

During 3:00 PM on October 29, 2017, I was issue specific job duties by Mr. Clinton Burke held at Rm 101 in support of CEPO preparation. Upon completion of the assigned duties, Mr. Burke requested I notify him of my progress. However, prior to notifying Mr. Burke on my progress, I visited the Supply Room (Rm 122) to speak with Mr. Malcolm Freeman on work related task. Approximately 3:15 PM, while I was exiting the supply room from our rear entrance, Mr. Burke enters the Supply Room from front entrance with high urgency. Mr. Burke immediately went straight to Mr. Freeman office and requested the whereabouts of our NATI personnel and myself (Eliezer Santiago). From a distance, I heard there conversation and waited at the rear entrance of the supply room in order to speak with Mr. Burke. After Mr. Burke conversation with Mr. Freeman, I was approached by Mr. Burke who immediately got in my face with verbal hostility. He seemed extremely upset about me not reporting to him immediately after completing my task. As I was attacked verbally by Mr. Burke, I did my best to exit the premises in order to establish some safe distance and de-escalate the situation. However, as I was existing the Supply Room and entering the Level 1 garage. Mr. Burke continued to pursue and verbally yell at me. As Mr. Burke continued his verbal attacks, I began to feel threaten so I stopped and turned around and directly faced Mr. Burke and told him ?Stop yelling at me, you are not my supervisor!? Mr. Burke responded ?I?m your supervisor, and you do what I say!? Due to the level of verbal hostility, I felt threatened and was afraid of possible physical confrontation. I was unable to continue with such unprofessional behavior and stated to Mr. Burke that I was going to speak with Ms. Connie Hines (Director) about this situation. I?m unsure on why I was targeted by Mr. Burke. Since my hire, I had no issues or complaints while working with Mr. Burke. I believe due to the CEPO deadline and the amount of work responsibilities, escalated the level of work stress. I don?t wish any punishment upon Mr. Burke. I believe he is a good individual who made a mistake by releasing his frustration on me. I also didn?t conduct myself in the most professional matter. Instead of yelling back at Mr. Burke, I should have continue to walk away from him, regardless if I continue to receive verbal abuse from him. I?m more than willing and able to sit down and work out our difference in order to keep a safe working environment.
