What is Federal Poverty Level?

These poverty guidelines are another version of the federal poverty measure. In contrast to other data on poverty levels and income levels of the United States of America (which are published by the census department), these are published by the US Department of Health and Human Services. They are a simplified version of the poverty thresholds used for the purpose of administrative use and are adjusted for factors such as family size and geographic location.
