Select a person you don’t know well — someone at work or in an organization in which you are a member, or in your neighborhood. Ask the person if you can conduct

a 15 minute interview with him or her. Before speaking to that person, write a “cultural profile” of that person from your observation or memory, listing at least 4-5

primary and 4-5 secondary dimensions with your reasons for believing they are true about the person.

Interview the person to learn (or ask directly) about his or her primary and secondary dimensions, then ask that person to complete the 9 questions from Week 2’s

Short Paper 2.
Take careful notes.
Compare what you learned with what you believed and observed on the cultural dimensions
Compare the person’s responses to the questionnaire with your own.

What can you discern about this person’s culturally influenced attitudes and values?
How similar and how different is the person from you?
What did you learn from this assignment about fears and needs? [2-3 pages, 75 pts]
Wk 2 Short Paper: Cultural Profile
Create a cultural profile describing as many of your primary (unchangeable/present at birth) and secondary (changeable) characteristics as you can. This can be a list.

Primary characteristics include: sex, age (birth year), height (at full adulthood), certain physical characteristics you were born with – color, appearance, etc.,

native language, sexual orientation, geographic region you come from, genetic intellectual abilities, genetic physical abilities, health, birth order, religion born
