While content is more important than your writing style, poorly edited and poorly written reports will result in lower grades.

Excellent: The writing is strong and clear. The overview portion of the report offers important information in a well-organized format. The ideas are presented concisely and with focus. The musical description conveys a meaningful understanding of the music and how it specifically relates/responds to the tragic event. The analysis clearly articulates the strengths of this particular musical response to tragedy. All of the information is synthesized in an insightful report.

Average: The description is adequate but not necessarily thorough or insightful. While most important aspects of the music and tragic event are described, some important points may be missed. Analysis is good but too general or not insightful enough.

Poor: The report is disorganized and lacks key information. The descriptions are limited and demonstrate a lack of overall understanding. Significant aspects of the music are not covered. Connections between the tragic event and the musical response are poorly described. Analysis is either missing or poorly formed.
