Yellowstone National Park region of the northwestern U.S.

Please identify a volcanic region of the world and write a short research paper (3-5 pages) about its tectonic and volcanic history and associated landforms. The paper should be at least three full pages, double-spaced, 12-point font, no skipped lines. References, figures, etc. are not included in the three pages. Cover sheets are not required.
PLEASE EMAIL ME AN ELECTRONIC COPY OF YOUR FINAL PAPER BY 9:30 AM 10/9. Paper copies will not be accepted.
Think about your study area PRIOR TO THE EXAM ON 9/23: One of the questions on the exam will ask you to declare your intended volcanic region. YOU MAY NOT USE ICELAND OR MT. ST. HELENS, but you can use anywhere else.  You can pick a region (such as the Cascade Mountain Range) or an individual volcano (such as Mt. Pinatubo). Other examples include:
1.    Yellowstone National Park region of the northwestern U.S.
2.    New Zealand
3.    East African Rift Valley
4.    Ecuadorian Andes
5.    Indonesia
6.    Mt. Vesuvius, Italy (the volcano that buried Pompeii and Herculaneum)
7.    Mt. Fuji, Japan
8.    Hawaii
9.    Somewhere else you are interested in! You can use this link or any other internet resource to find a location:
http://volcano.oregonstate.edu/oldroot/volcanoes/

Your paper should focus the volcanic history and landforms of your location.  Make sure to cover:
•    Which type of volcanism is acting on your location (e.g., hot spot, ocean-ocean convergence, or ocean-continent convergence)
•    Is your volcano/region primarily explosive or effusive, and what evidence is there of this?
•    Years of major volcanic activity.
•    Descriptions of landforms, rock types, and other associated evidence to support the type of volcanism and the times of eruptions.
•    Cultural or natural impacts of the volcanic activity
•    Please include a map (properly cited) of your location
