Question/Task
Research and choose two organisations using high performance work (HPW) and Performance Management (PM) practices, which you can compare and contrast in their approach.

Choices/ options ( you choose which option you prefer better, for the organizations I chose Apple and Google if you prefer other let me know)
• You may/ might explore two organisations in the same sector (e.g. manufacturing)
• You may/ might explore two organisations in different sectors (e.g. manufacturing and service; public and private)
• You may/ might explore HPW or PM in different sized organisations (e.g. large and SME).

Breakdown of the task to meet the learning outcomes
1. Explore, contrast, and critically evaluate, the business case for the use of high performance in these two organisations
2. Explore, using research evidence, the practical difficulties, challenges, and implications encountered by the use of performance management/ high performance in these two organisations
3. Consider, and develop balanced proposals, using research evidence relating to how these practical difficulties/ challenges might be effectively managed or responded to in the current and longer term
4. Examine the implications for line managers, and assess how the organisations can ensure line managers are carrying out their responsibilities effectively.
