? Should include a brief outline of the concepts, principles, models of approach
and methodologies underpinning the intervention, explain and apply theoretical
frameworks of relevance to the planning the intervention utilising a range of
appropriate evidence.
2. Background and context
? Use literature (policy documents, research reports etc) to establish that your
issue is a national and/or local priority for public health action which will, in turn,
contribute to the creation of your aims and objectives
? Use local intelligence to support your choice of particular school,
neighborhood (etc) for intervention.
3. Plans for intervention
? Expand on the intervention strategy that you propose by identifying the model
of approach (or combination of approaches) through which you intend to
achieve change. Make sure that you justify your decision on the basis of
reference to supporting evidence from the evaluation literature.
? Specify the aims of the intervention in a statement that includes reference to
the overall goal and the means by which you intend to achieve it.
? Provide a bullet pointed list of objectives that relate to steps on your path to
achievement of your overall goal
? Provide a chronologically-ordered plan of action for achieving the objectives.
Use this to demonstrate your ideas about how the change will be led and
resourced within your chosen setting.

? Draw on the methodological literature within health promotion to justify your
overall evaluation approach
? Suggest suitable methods and techniques for obtaining the data that will enable
the value of the intervention to be assessed.
